We provide building materials for shelter and use our logistics network to distribute supplies when a natural disaster strikes. Our employees get involved volunteering their time and raising funds.
We have collaborated with governments and civic organizations to help vulnerable communities affected by natural disasters in several countries.
In 2007, we organized a relief operation for families affected by the monsoon's floods in Bangladesh. With the help of the Bangladeshi army and local government officials, more than 1,000 families received relief packs containing food, medicine, and water. CEMEX employees around Asia raised money for more relief packs.
In the Philippines, we donated over 500 bags of cement and roofing materials following typhoon Reming. We also continue to help Tsunami victims rebuild their lives. In southern Thailand, we are working with UNICEF to build homes, schools, and a health center in the devastated village of Ban Nam Khem.

We set up a fund for employee donations and doubled the amount raised with a matching fund in response to the severe floods that devastated the Mexican state of Tabasco at the end of October 2007. More than 35,000 families benefited as a result. We also donated 1,000 houses in partnership with the government and several water treatment and power plants. We further provided assistance to rebuild homes and community infrastructure. This disaster was one of the most severe in Mexico's history; up to one million people were displaced, with thousands needing emergency food, water, medicine, and shelter.
