Monterrey, Mexico, August 29, 2006.   A woman who has dedicated her entire life and courage to the craft was the recipient of the New Journalism Award (Premio Nuevo Periodismo CEMEX + FNPI). This journalism award, which is considered one of the most prestigious in the world, has been chaired for the past five years by CEMEX's Chairman and CEO Lorenzo H. Zambrano and Nobel Price Laureate in Literature, Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Mónica González de Mujica of Chile, Diego Goldberg (Argentina) of the La Nación newspaper, and Peruvian writer José Carlos Paredes of Etiqueta Negra magazine, received the award in the categories of Career Tribute, Photography, and Text, respectively.

"This Award is the most important prize that I have ever received, and I never imagined I would win. I am humbled and honored, it makes me feel proud and even more committed to further research and continuing to work," said Gonzalez Mujica, after receiving a standing ovation.

Now a tradition, the venue for the awards ceremony was Monterrey's MARCO Museum of Contemporary Art. The event, held on August 29, was attended by journalists from different countries.
