The Kiss Bridge in the town of Pilar de la Horadada in southeastern Spain- built with CEMEX white concrete- has been recognized as one of the most emblematic concrete structures built in the past four years by the International Federation for Structural Concrete (FIB). The FIB is a prestigious international organization which includes over 40 countries and presents its awards every four years.

The Kiss Bridge was designed by Spanish Architect Joaquín Alvarado and Engineers Salvador Ivorra and Miguel Ángel Crespo. The playful and innovative design of the bridge is inspired by origami, the Japanese art of paper folding. For this challenging construction project, CEMEX white concrete was used to evoke the color and texture of paper. In addition to its innovative concrete structure, the jury took into account its use of white concrete, a material that has seen increased popularity in contemporary architecture and engineering.

The FIB seeks to foster the improvement of concrete at the scientific, technical, economic, and aesthetic levels. Among the other winners named in this year’s FIB Awards are the Shenzen Vanke Center in China designed by Architect Steven Holl and Queen Alia Airport in Jordan designed by Norman Foster.

CEMEX is one of the world's largest producers of white cement. Customers use this specialty product in architectural works requiring great brightness and artistic finishes, to create mosaics and artificial granite, and for sculptural casts and other applications where white prevails.
