During the past year, CEMEX has provided hydraulic concrete paving for 7 million 839 thousand square meters of roads and highways in Mexico. The total surface area paved by CEMEX during this period is the equivalent of a 2,200 kilometer long road. These infrastructure projects, in which CEMEX participates as materials provider and contractor, contribute to the competitiveness of Mexico by facilitating transit for motorists and transporting merchandise.

Concrete pavements, compared to those built with asphalt, offer many benefits including greater durability, reduced life cycle costs, reduced temperature, and increased road safety. Due to its rigidity, concrete paving offers significantly less resistance for a vehicle's wheels to roll. Consequently, concrete paving requires lower fuel consumption for vehicles traveling faster than 30 km/h, compared to a flexible pavement such as asphalt.
