CEMEX in Panama is providing nearly 130,000 cubic meters of CEMEX’s specialty added-resistance concrete for maritime use for the construction of transversal and longitudinal beams, foundations, and jetties of the new phase of the Panama Coastal Beltway. “CEMEX is proud to provide building solutions to this project which will improve the lives of the residents of Panama through more modern and efficient road infrastructure,” says Ramón Pizá, President of CEMEX in Panama. “In Panama, we are partnering with our customers to provide them with the ideal solution for their construction challenges, and this has been reflected on our customers’ increased satisfaction and preference”

On April 26, CEMEX released its results for the first quarter of 2013, highlighting its operations in Panama as an area with strong year-over-year growth. After adjusting for fewer working days, cement volumes in Panama increased by 8% versus the first quarter of 2012, according to CEMEX Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration, Fernando González.

The Coastal Beltway (or Cinta Costera) project is one of the most important infrastructure and mobility initiatives in Panama City and is expected to reach completion in 2014. It is part of the National Government’s Panama City Road Infrastructure Master Plan which aims to improve, expand, and add new infrastructure to 23 points in the city. The Coastal Beltway will go beyond roadways to include parks, open spaces for sports and recreational use, and cultural and historical attractions.
