CEMEX in Israel provides concrete solution for building named one of the most beautiful in the world

Date published: October 25, 2012

The W Tower, constructed with CEMEX concrete in Tel Aviv, Israel, was recently named as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world by the Council on Tall Buildings & Urban Habitat (CTBUH), the leading international body in the field of tall buildings. This luxurious structure, approximately 156 meters high, was also confirmed as the tallest wholly residential building in Israel.

The W Tower

Overlooking the most prestigious location in Tel Aviv, the W Tower comprises 168 spacious residential units on 46 floors, atop three stories—15,000 square meters—of underground parking. The 40,000 square meter building sits on a 5,000 square meter plot adjacent to the Ayalon Highway, the main access route to Tel Aviv.

CEMEX began work on the project with the massive and logistically complex cast of the 3,800 m³ foundation. Company personnel, including a quality controller stationed next to each pump, ensured optimal solutions to the strict specifications of the job. When the third floor was reached, a static pump replaced the cranes and regular pumps to offer a prompt solution to all of the casting work performed. This pump also required special concrete mixes in order to comply with the contractor’s requirement that the pumping reach all the way up to the very top floor of this monumental building.

The W Tower exemplifies the way that CEMEX continuously interacts with its customers to create more value for them. Drawing from its worldwide expertise, the company delivers a distinctive mix of products and services that set its clients’ projects apart.
