CEMEX has recently began its first turnkey project in the Dominican Republic with its participation in the construction of one of the capital city of Santo Domingo’s biggest projects, the Santo Domingo Market. Turnkey projects are those in which CEMEX goes beyond providing building materials and participates in the actual construction of different structures.

Merca Santo Domingo is a new distribution center for agricultural and refrigerated products. It will require 12,500 m3 of readymix concrete and is one of the biggest projects currently being undertaken in the country.

For this construction, CEMEX gave important recommendations that contributed to better quality in the final product, among them the use of pavement concrete MR 35 in its parking lot.

The project began as an initiative to replace asphalt with concrete, installing rigid paving for the parking lots and flexible pavement for throughways. CEMEX won the contract to pave approximately 40,000 m2 of parking lots in a turnkey scheme. The project is scheduled for completion in September.
