CEMEX in Germany is providing 36,000 square meters of precast semi-finished concrete products for the construction of the German Bundesliga’s newest state-of-the-art soccer stadium in the city of Mainz. The stadium, officially named Coface Arena, will have capacity for 33,500 spectators and will be the home of the Division 1 team Mainz 05.

CEMEX was commissioned by hbm Stadien- und Sportstättenbau GmbH to provide custom-made concrete pieces that would allow for the structurally complex design. Coface Arena will have a vertical construction with high stands and flat ceilings, in the manner of classic English football stadiums.

“Prefabricated ceilings and double wall units accelerated the flow of our construction work and gave us certainty as to the meeting of deadlines“, says Roland Streb, site manager of hbm. “Without semi-finished precast concrete components, the construction times scheduled for this project would not have been realistic. Moreover, concrete components have a high surface quality.”
