CEMEX's Modi'im aggregates quarry in Israel awarded "Five Stars of Beauty"

CEMEX in Israel's Modi'im aggregates quarry has been awarded with the "Five Stars of Beauty" designation by the Council for a Beautiful Israel, a non-profit public organization whose aim is to improve the quality of life in Israel through preservation of the environment and by promoting the values of nature and environmental aesthetics, focusing on the beauty of urban centers.

The award is given to companies that encourage ecological preservation and sustainability within the industrial sector, seeking the welfare of people and communities, as part of an overall concept which focuses on a better quality of life.

The Council for a Beautiful Israel strives, through education and activism, to encourage Israeli citizens to persistently aspire towards improving their life in this country by changing their approach to the environment in which they live, work, and enjoy their free time.

The company works diligently to responsibly manage the land within and around its operations to protect biodiversity and maximize its contribution to nature conservation. At a global level, 82% of CEMEX active sites have quarry rehabilitation plans in place and the company is on track to meet its goal of 100% by 2015.
