CEMEX in the US helps educate young leaders in Florida

Date published: February 24, 2011

Early this year, the participants of the Davenport, Florida Chamber of Commerce’s Youth Leadership program visited CEMEX’s sand mine in the city as part of their Business and Industry day trip. The students learned about the mining industry by sitting in on a panel discussion and took a tour of the mine and the Quality Control Laboratory.

The chamber’s Youth Leadership Program educates selected eleventh grade students about various components that make up a healthy community. Every year the visit to CEMEX’s installations is the highlight of their day trip.

CEMEX seeks to be a good neighbor and an active and positive part of every community in which the company operates. To meet this objective we develop strong long-term relationships with local community members, and contribute to socio-economic development wherever we operate by promoting education and training opportunities in schools and universities, including funding cultural and sporting activities.
