CEMEX in China was the provider of choice for the Wind Energy Technical Center in the northern city of Tianjin. The Wind Energy Technology Center provides a set of full-scale testing facilities to help improve and strengthen the growing wind energy industry in China. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology the center can perform static and fatigue tests for various purposes including certification testing, blade design validation, manufacturing quality testing, and validation of repairs and design.

In order to meet the particular demands of this project, special consideration was given to the concrete mix. The pour had to be done while keeping the mix at a low temperature, so cold storage was rented and the aggregates used were frozen before mixing. Another requirement was the use of aggregates between 5 and 16 millimeters. No aggregates supplier in Tianjin could provide aggregates of this specific size, so they had to be specially sourced.

Despite all these challenges, the project was completed on time and to the exact specifications of the customer.
