"I am pleased to be with you at this event. This is an example of our latest efforts in re-assuring the environmental and economic policy reform adopted by the Egyptian government to build a balanced industrial renaissance where the private sector and multinational companies play a vital role," said Minister of the Environment in Egypt Maged George.

CEMEX worldwide efforts in building a healthier environment have helped the company achieve its 2015 worldwide goals for reduction of dust emissions ahead of time, reaching 106 grams per ton of clinker in 2009. This represents a 66% reduction of the dust emissions registered in 2005.

In this event, CEMEX in Egypt also presented its social responsibility initiatives, these include:

  • CEMEX´s safety driving school, which is expected to serve more than 8,000 drivers including CEMEX´s truck drivers and contractors, in order to limit the number of accidents on Egyptian roads
  • Donation of a residential building donated for low income citizens in Assiut, which is the largest town in Upper Egypt and lies about 234 miles south of Cairo

With achievements such as the inauguration of the state-of-the-art bag filter system and the presentation of its social responsibility initiatives, CEMEX in Egypt reinforces its commitment towards the environment and the communities where it operates.
